About Mutima
Mutima means “Heart” in Luganda.
We want to put humanity back in beauty, so that millions of people can feel beautiful while engaging positively with their communities and the environment.
Make-up brings joy and confidence to billions of people around the world. We want to add to that joy without adding to the waste produced by the beauty industry. We don’t have to give up simple pleasures, in order to take care of people and the planet. This is why Mutima is “beauty with a pulse”, because we want to center human beings. The human beings who wear our products; the human beings who help produce our products; and the human beings that can be affected by the disposal of our products.
Our Multi-use Cream and Glow Sticks can be used on lips, eyes, or cheek for light to full coverage color. They are made with simple yet powerful ingredients, from mother earth and her wonderful ecosystems that we have ethically sourced. Simply apply directly to the skin and use your finger to blend. They are easy to use and add a pop of color to your already lovely face.
Sustainability: The Beauty Cycle
Our entire product is biodegradable and compostable. From the paper push-up tubes to the make-up it holds. When you have finished your Creme/Glow Multi-use stick you can put it in your compost bin. The earth gave us all parts of this product, so we encourage you to return it back to the soil to continue the cycle of beauty.
We hand-make our Multi-use Sticks in a slow process that controls the number of items produced.
Our ingredients are ethically and sustainably sourced ensuring that we contribute to economies locally and globally without worker exploitation.
We have no outer packaging for our Multi-use sticks and our shipping paper is reused from deliveries we get or materials we find discarded at the Post Office. All these materials are recyclable and/or compostable.
